Transforming Nigerian Event Management with Technology
A new platform called Ahavaplan is helping event planners across Nigeria streamline their operations and manage client relationships more effectively. Founded by Christine Imoukhuede, the software provides a comprehensive solution for tracking inquiries, managing proposals, handling payments, and collaborating with vendors—all in one place.
Addressing a Critical Need
Imoukhuede noted that most Nigerian event planners currently rely on WhatsApp and spreadsheets to manage their businesses. This often leads to missed inquiries, payment issues, and limited scalability. Ahavaplan aims to solve these challenges by providing a centralized platform with features like:
- Permanent client links for easy access
- Inquiry tracking from initial contact to booking
- Transparent invoicing and payment systems
- Client portals for proposal review and approvals
AI-Powered Assistance
Ahavaplan also includes an AI assistant named Ella, which can generate proposals, create event budgets in Naira, build timelines, and provide alerts when events are falling behind schedule.
Imoukhuede’s journey began over 30 years ago planning her own family events. After developing Ahavaplan while working at Apple, she launched the platform in Nigeria in 2025 after initially testing a US-based version that catered to American planners.
Rapid Adoption and Growth
The response in Nigeria has been significantly faster than what Imoukhuede saw in the United States. Within eight weeks of launch, over 160 planners had started free trials—a conversion rate three times higher than her previous venture.
Currently operating only in Nigeria with a focus on major cities like Lagos and Abuja, Ahavaplan plans to expand its offerings to include:
- Vendor directories with negotiated discounts
- Community features for collaboration
- Venue booking capabilities
- Expansion into Ghana within the next year
The startup’s ultimate vision is to become the leading event management platform across Africa.
