Transforming Construction Through Innovation

Tanzania’s Dar Ventures has joined forces with Plug and Play to expand its built environment technology accelerator, DarE, across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. This partnership marks a significant step in transforming how we design, build, and operate our infrastructure.

A Growing Ecosystem

DarE has already supported 32 startups through four cohorts, providing them with industry expertise, commercial opportunities, and access to investors. With Plug and Play’s global network of over 60 offices, 550 corporate partners, and 10,000+ accelerated startups, DarE is poised to reach new heights.

The program aims to connect architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) startups with the resources they need – from mentorship and funding to market access and strategic partnerships. This will help bridge the gap between innovative solutions and real-world implementation.

What’s on Offer?

The 12-week hybrid program targets pre-seed to pre-Series A startups with a working product or early traction. Participants can expect:

  • Tailored expert support from industry leaders
  • One-on-one mentorship sessions
  • Direct engagement with potential clients and partners
  • Access to investor networks
  • Exposure to international markets

DarE will prioritize startups developing AI, automation, data analytics, digital delivery solutions, and sustainability technologies that address tangible challenges in the built environment.

Why This Matters

As Faysal Shair, co-founder of Dar Ventures, noted: “The built environment remains one of the largest sectors globally… yet we believe there remains significant untapped potential to transform how we design, build, and operate our cities and infrastructure.”

This initiative comes at a critical time as Africa faces rapid urbanization and infrastructure development needs. By supporting local innovators with global reach, DarE is helping create more resilient, sustainable, and efficient built environments for the future.
