Mastercard and Busha Team Up to Enhance Trust in Digital Asset Transactions

In a move aimed at expanding secure digital payment infrastructure across Africa, Mastercard has partnered with Busha, a pan-African digital asset exchange. The collaboration will integrate Mastercard Crypto Credential into the Busha platform, offering users greater trust and simplicity when sending and receiving cryptocurrency.

Effective immediately, eligible Busha users in Nigeria can utilize unique Crypto Credentials—verified aliases that replace complex blockchain addresses with simple email or phone number identifiers. This allows for more intuitive transactions across participating exchanges and wallets within the Mastercard ecosystem.

“Digital asset transfers should be as seamless and trusted as other digital payments,” stated Gabriel Swanepoel, division president of Africa at Mastercard. “Our Crypto Credential provides users with confidence that funds are directed to verified recipients while simplifying the process with easy-to-use aliases.”

The solution verifies recipient capabilities before transactions, reducing errors and failed transfers. It’s available automatically for all verified Busha users without requiring additional setup.

According to Michael Adeyeri, co-founder and CEO of Busha: “This partnership helps us make digital assets more practical and accessible while reinforcing the security standards our users expect.” He noted that the integration aligns with Busha’s mission to create a more intuitive digital finance experience for everyday users.

As digital asset adoption grows across Africa, trusted infrastructure like Mastercard Crypto Credential will be critical for mainstream acceptance. This development positions both companies at the forefront of responsible innovation in the continent’s digital financial ecosystem.
