Addressing the Kingdom’s Growing Digital Infrastructure Needs
In a significant development for Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation, Taranis Capital Limited and Emaar Executive Company (EEC) have joined forces to build next-generation data centres across the Kingdom. The partnership seeks to address a critical gap in carrier-neutral facilities needed to support the country’s rapid adoption of AI, cloud computing, and other digital technologies under Vision 2030.
The collaboration combines Taranis Capital’s fund management expertise with EEC’s vertically integrated engineering and construction capabilities. Together, they plan to develop strategically located data centre campuses offering up to 40-50 MW capacity per site – featuring advanced cooling systems and flexible designs that can accommodate evolving AI workloads like those requiring NVIDIA’s next-generation GPUs.
Filling a Market Void
According to Taranis Capital partner Milan Radia, the Saudi market lacks the community-of-interest ecosystem model that has proven successful in Europe with companies like Equinix and Telecity. This partnership aims to create a true hub where enterprises, content providers, and cloud platforms can connect and thrive.
“What is missing in the Saudi market is the connectivity ecosystem model that made companies like Equinix, Telecity, and Interxion so successful in Europe,” Radia explained. “No one in the region has yet built a true community-of-interest environment.”
Vision 2030 Alignment
The Saudi Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA) is actively supporting this initiative, facilitating regulatory approvals and reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to becoming a global digital infrastructure hub. The project directly aligns with Vision 2030 goals of accelerating digital capacity, fostering innovation, and achieving technological leadership.
With strong investor interest in Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure sector, Taranis Capital CEO Nicholas Bingham noted that this partnership is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing demand and deliver world-class digital solutions for the Kingdom.
