Addressing Limb Loss Challenges Through Technology
Dynalimb Technologies, a Nigerian startup, is transforming mobility care across Africa by combining medical expertise with cutting-edge 3D printing technology. The company aims to improve the lives of people living with limb loss and related disabilities, making essential services more accessible and affordable.
The inspiration for Dynalimb came from co-founder Blessing Aniefiok’s personal experience caring for her aunt who lost a limb due to diabetes. Seeing firsthand how this impacted her aunt’s independence and quality of life motivated Aniefiok and her team to seek innovative solutions.
Making Prosthetics More Accessible
The startup has developed 3D-printed prosthetics that significantly reduce both cost and production time compared to traditional methods. While a conventional prosthetic can take weeks to produce and cost upwards of $1,200 in Nigeria, Dynalimb’s devices are typically delivered within seven days at around $600.
A Holistic Approach to Mobility Care
Beyond manufacturing, Dynalimb offers a comprehensive platform called DynaX that digitizes the entire mobility care journey. This includes:
- Digital measurement and scanning tools
- Patient management systems
- Virtual collaboration for healthcare professionals
- Therapy support resources
The goal is to replace manual processes like plaster casting with streamlined digital workflows, improving communication between patients and providers.
With over 1,000 patients served already, Dynalimb’s impact is growing as awareness of their services expands. The company has attracted interest from both individuals seeking care and healthcare institutions looking to modernize their mobility service delivery.
