Terra Industries Secures $52 Million to Build Security Systems for the Global South
Terra Industries, a Nigerian defence-technology company specializing in autonomous security systems, has closed Africa’s largest seed funding round at $52 million. The additional $18 million investment comes from Norleo Space Investments and angel investor Grant Gordon, alongside existing backers 8VC, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, Belief Capital, and SV Angel.
Strategic Expansion Plans
With this capital infusion, Terra Industries will:
- Establish its first international office in London to access global markets and talent
- Expand manufacturing capacity across Africa and beyond
- Accelerate product deployment throughout the Global South
- Grow teams in engineering, operations, and business development
The company has already made significant strides this year, including raising $11.75 million in January and an additional $22 million led by Lux Capital.
Manufacturing Footprint Across Africa
Terra Industries is building a robust manufacturing presence with:
- A 15,000-square-foot facility (Pax-1) in Abuja, Nigeria
- A 34,000-square-foot factory (Pax-2) in Ghana—expected to be the continent’s largest drone production hub by 2028 with a capacity of 50,000 units annually
- Plans for additional facilities across the Gulf, South America, and South Asia
“Critical infrastructure is best protected by systems designed for these environments and built in the regions they serve,” said Nathan Nwachuku, co-founder and CEO of Terra Industries. “This funding allows us to scale that approach while deepening our manufacturing base.”
Technology Overview
Terra’s autonomous security solutions include:
- Long- and mid-range drones for aerial surveillance
- Interceptor drones for threat neutralization
- Sentry towers with advanced detection capabilities
- Unmanned ground vehicles for perimeter security
All systems operate on ArtemisOS, Terra’s proprietary software platform that enables real-time threat assessment, autonomous mission planning, and coordinated responses.
The company already protects approximately $11 billion in critical assets across multiple African nations.
