New Nigerian Startup Aims to Transform Studying with AI

Nigerian startup StudyCrew has launched an innovative ed-tech platform that uses artificial intelligence to create a more engaging and effective learning experience for students. Founded last year by cybersecurity student Josiah Dhev, the platform combines personalized AI tutors, gamified progress tracking, and social collaboration features in one place.

The core problem StudyCrew addresses is student motivation and consistency—issues Dhev observed firsthand while struggling with his own studies. Unlike many existing platforms that primarily focus on content delivery, StudyCrew emphasizes habit-building through interactive challenges and rewards systems. The platform’s AI component provides personalized support across various subjects, adapting to each student’s learning style and pace.

“We noticed students often face attention deficits and lack motivation when studying independently, particularly in educational environments where digital resources are limited,” Dhev explained. “StudyCrew aims to solve this by creating a more dynamic and supportive learning ecosystem.”

The platform already has over 200 users from across Africa, India, and the UK—demonstrating its potential beyond Nigeria’s borders. StudyCrew is currently working with universities and high schools to integrate its features into their curricula.

Future Plans

StudyCrew operates on a freemium model, offering basic access for free while charging for premium AI-powered tools and analytics. The startup is initially targeting the Nigerian student market but plans to expand across Africa and globally once core features are stabilized.
