Wimbart at a Decade: Charting Africa’s Rising Tech Story

Award-winning PR firm Wimbart is marking its 10th anniversary, reflecting on a decade of supporting the growth and global recognition of African technology companies. Founded in 2016 by Jessica Hope, an IROKO alumna, the consultancy has become known for helping startups, scale-ups, VC firms, and institutional organizations reach both local and international audiences.

A Decade of Impact

Wimbart’s team of 15 professionals—based in London and Lagos—has advised some of Africa’s most recognizable tech brands through critical moments like funding rounds, product launches, acquisitions, and market expansions. Key clients include M-KOPA, Andela, MaxAB, and Ventures Platform.

The firm has expanded its services over the years, launching Wimbart Lite in 2016 to specifically support early-stage startups with tailored communications solutions.

Beyond Press Releases

Wimbart’s commitment extends beyond traditional PR. In 2025, they launched “The Wimbart Way” podcast featuring interviews with industry leaders like Omobola Johnson, Iyin Aboyeji, and Tomiwa Aladekomo—exploring the intersection of media and African tech storytelling.

Riding Africa’s Tech Wave

The firm’s growth mirrors the continent’s technology sector boom. Since 2015, African startups have raised over $20 billion, produced multiple unicorns, and attracted increasing international investment. Wimbart has supported more than 230 clients across nearly 20 countries, with key markets including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt.

“We’re proud to have partnered with exceptional founders and investors who are building Africa’s tech ecosystem,” says Jessica Hope, Founder & CEO of Wimbart. “Our approach combines passion for the mission with technical PR expertise—always seeking to tell compelling stories that resonate globally.”
