Zoho Unveils In-House Server Platform for Optimized Tech Infrastructure
Zoho Corporation has announced the launch of Nathu La, a server developed entirely in-house. This marks a significant milestone in Zoho’s journey to build its complete technology stack from hardware to software applications.
The Nathu La server delivers equivalent performance with 12-18% lower power consumption and 20-30% lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to external solutions. The platform utilizes Intel® Xeon® 6 processors and was developed in collaboration with Intel, leveraging their expertise.
“This aligns perfectly with our long-term strategy of owning and optimizing every layer of our technology stack,” stated Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head of Zoho Nigeria. “By controlling the entire ecosystem, we ensure greater sustainability, accessibility, and security for our customers while driving down costs.”
Key Features & Benefits:
- Designed based on Open Compute Project (OCP) principles with a focus on modularity and thermal efficiency
- Optimized for virtualisation, high-performance computing, AI inference, and storage applications
- Includes custom power delivery subsystems and an in-house Data Centre Secure Control Module (DC-SCM)
- Offers flexible deployment options through modular chassis designs
- Hardware-rooted security at every layer with indigenous intellectual property
Building a Tech Talent Pipeline
Zoho established a dedicated R&D team in Nagpur, India, specifically for projects like server design. The team includes graduates from SETU (Student’s Engagement for Transformative Upskilling), an initiative that provides advanced training in electronics system design and manufacturing.
To date, SETU has trained over 300 students, many of whom have joined Zoho’s engineering teams. This focus on hands-on innovation helps cultivate deeper technical capabilities and addresses the growing need for skilled engineers in emerging technologies like AI.
The launch of Nathu La reinforces Zoho’s commitment to technological sovereignty, sustainable digital infrastructure, and delivering exceptional value to customers through complete control over its technology stack.
