Automating Financial Operations with Bujeti’s New AI Platform
Nigerian fintech startup Bujeti has unveiled Brain, an agentic AI platform designed to automate routine financial tasks for businesses across Nigeria and Kenya. The launch follows a successful two-week private beta period and comes after the company raised $2.5 million in seed funding as part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 batch.
Brain offers four specialized AI “teammates”:
- Fetch: Automatically finds, extracts data from invoices, receipts, and statements across various platforms.
- Chaser: Manages invoice collections through multiple channels (email, SMS, WhatsApp) with payment plan negotiation capabilities.
- Watchdog: Monitors transactions, vendors, and contracts daily to identify risks and upcoming renewals.
- Concierge: Answers employee finance questions using company-specific policies.
“Most AI finance tools require manual data input,” explains Bujeti founder Cossi Achille Arouko. “We built Brain directly into our existing platform, so it has access to all financial data in real time.” This integrated approach allows Brain to provide more contextual and actionable insights than standalone solutions.
Key Features & Benefits
- No standing authority: AI teammates cannot initiate transactions without human approval.
- Complete audit trail: All actions are logged for transparency and accountability.
- Data privacy: Customer data is not used to train external models.
- Customizable controls: Each teammate can be configured with specific permissions and workflows.
Early tests show promising results, with Chaser recovering 3.2 times more debt than manual collection teams on challenging accounts. Bujeti plans to extend this capability to full debt and loan recovery in the future.
The company is also developing a connector (Bujeti MCP) that will allow popular AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to access business finance data with appropriate permissions – opening new possibilities for customized financial analysis and automation.
