Egyptian Fintech E-Finance Expands Financial Services Platform Through Key Acquisitions
E-finance, the publicly listed Egyptian fintech group, is strategically transforming from a payments infrastructure provider into a comprehensive financial services platform through recent acquisitions. Shareholders have approved the acquisition of 99.32% of micro-lender Tamweely in a deal valued at EGP6.4 billion ($122 million), following up on an earlier investment in digital wealth management platform Wilzy.
The Tamweely acquisition provides e-finance with access to Egypt’s consumer and small-business lending market, complementing its existing expertise in government payments infrastructure. This allows e-finance to offer a broader range of services across the customer financial journey - from payments to lending and potentially investing.
Strategic Expansion Across Financial Services
The acquisitions align with e-finance’s vision to become deeply embedded in users’ financial lives, offering integrated solutions that address multiple needs. By connecting these various service points, e-finance aims to create a more valuable ecosystem where customers can manage all aspects of their finances through a single platform.
