Bridging the Credit Gap with AI: Mathesis Analytics Raises New Investment

Nigerian fintech company Mathesis Analytics has announced a significant investment from First Ally Capital, marking a major step in its mission to expand access to credit for millions of previously underserved individuals across Nigeria and beyond.

Mathesis specializes in AI-powered credit decisioning infrastructure that enables financial institutions to confidently assess borrowers lacking traditional credit histories. The company’s technology leverages alternative data sources like mobile transaction records, microfinance repayment history, and BNPL usage to create comprehensive credit profiles.

Addressing Data Fragmentation Challenges

A key barrier to credit inclusion in Nigeria is the fragmentation of borrower data—positive financial behaviors often occur across multiple platforms (fintech wallets, microloan providers) but remain disconnected under conventional systems. Mathesis solves this by creating a unified “Personal Equity” score that aggregates financial activity from various sources into a portable measure of creditworthiness.

“True financial inclusion requires collaboration where lenders and fintechs work as partners,” said Winston Osuchukwu, Founder and CEO of Mathesis Analytics. “By quantifying Personal Equity, we empower lenders to recognize borrowers’ true potential beyond traditional credit constraints.”

Investment Highlights

  • First Ally Capital investment will support expansion across Nigeria and into new African markets
  • Technology enables assessment of individuals with limited or no formal credit history
  • Creates comprehensive credit identities using alternative data sources
  • Already processed over 8 million loans for more than 2 million unique borrowers

First Ally Capital’s Managing Director, Ebenezer Olufowose, noted the investment aligns with their commitment to supporting innovative financial solutions that drive economic inclusion.

Mathesis offers two integration pathways: as an analytical plugin or as a complete end-to-end lending platform—allowing institutions to adopt the technology at their own pace. With this new funding, Mathesis is poised to transform credit access across Africa by unlocking the potential of previously underserved populations.
