Legacy in Motion: Nigeria’s Fintech Ecosystem Converges for 2026 Edition

The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) is set to host the 9th annual Nigeria Fintech Week (NFW26) on September 22-23, 2026. This year’s event will mark a significant expansion with programming across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, offering broader access to industry leaders, innovators, investors, and policymakers nationwide.

A Decade of Transformation

Under the theme “Legacy in Motion: Powering the Digital Renaissance,” NFW26 will explore how Nigeria’s fintech sector has evolved from proving digital payment viability to building core financial infrastructure. According to Dr. Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, Vice President of FintechNGR and Chairman of Nigeria Fintech Week:

“Over the past decade, our ecosystem has moved into a period of deeper institutional maturity where trust, credit expansion, and regulatory partnership are creating true economic capacity for millions.”

The Lagos edition will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture & the Creative Arts (National Theatre), while dedicated programs in Abuja and Port Harcourt will offer localized engagement opportunities on September 23.

Bridging Generations of Financial Innovation

This year’s expanded format reflects both the growth of Nigeria’s fintech sector and its increasing geographic reach. Dr. Sharrieff-Ayedun emphasized the importance of bringing together different generations of stakeholders:

“We chose ‘Legacy in Motion’ because we enjoy a rare privilege: the pioneers who built modern Nigerian banking are sitting on stage alongside the tech-native founders shaping the future.”

NFW26 will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, product showcases, and networking events covering topics from digital payments and financial inclusion to AI, cybersecurity, blockchain, and regulatory innovation. The event aims to foster collaboration across Nigeria’s fast-evolving fintech landscape as it looks towards its next decade of growth.
