Seevcash Closes Funding Round, Adds Visa Card for Seamless Transactions

Ghanaian fintech startup Seevcash has received a significant boost with $333,000 in funding from the Stellar Community Fund (SCF) and related programs. This investment will fuel expansion of its remittance platform catering to African diaspora communities across Ghana, the US, and other markets.

The funding arrived at key development stages, allowing Seevcash to accelerate product plans while maintaining focus on user adoption among diaspora populations. One notable addition is a Visa card that enables users to spend money held on the platform – moving beyond simple transfers to offer comprehensive financial services.

“We introduced the card after repeated requests from our users who wanted a way to directly access and utilize funds received through Seevcash,” explained CTO Cosmos Appiah. This allows customers to receive money and make purchases seamlessly within the same service, rather than transferring funds elsewhere.

MoneyGram also supports Seevcash’s infrastructure by facilitating fund movement into the platform from external markets. The addition of a Visa card aligns with industry trends where remittance companies seek to capture more customer financial activity beyond initial transactions.

With remittances often serving as an entry point, platforms like Seevcash aim to retain users through additional services such as payments and cards – creating multiple engagement touchpoints. This strategy mirrors successful models in other African fintechs targeting diaspora communities.

The funding also underscores the growing importance of blockchain-based solutions in Africa’s digital economy. Seevcash’s participation in Stellar programs provides access to specialized capital while aligning product development with the network’s ecosystem.
