Expanding Digital Finance Access with Yellow Card’s New Funding

Nigeria-based stablecoin infrastructure provider, Yellow Card, has secured $40 million in strategic funding to accelerate its global expansion. This investment brings the company’s total financing to over $120 million and underscores growing institutional interest in digital asset solutions for emerging markets.

Bridging Traditional Finance with Stablecoins

The new round of funding was led by SC Ventures (Standard Chartered) and included investments from Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital. Yellow Card will use the capital to scale its Global USD Accounts service, which provides businesses with end-to-end dollar account solutions, and expand its stablecoin infrastructure across new markets.

According to Chris Maurice, CEO of Yellow Card: “This investment validates our vision for modernizing global payments. We’re not just building technology; we’re creating financial access for millions of businesses that have been underserved by traditional banking systems.” The company aims to connect banks directly to stablecoin rails, enabling them to offer digital dollar solutions to their customers.

Institutional Validation and Strategic Partnerships

The investment from Sony Innovation Fund highlights the increasing adoption of stablecoins among major corporations. Austin Noronha, managing director of Sony Ventures-US, noted that Yellow Card’s approach combines robust APIs with deep local market expertise, making stablecoin payments practical for institutions.

Yellow Card currently supports over 50 currencies and serves customers including Visa and Western Union. The company’s expansion plans include deepening its reach in Asia-Pacific while extending into Latin America and Europe.
