HyperDev Secures Funding to Transform AI-Generated Code into Real Applications

A South African AI startup, HyperDev, has raised over $1 million (R16 million) in pre-seed funding. This investment will fuel the expansion of their software development platform that helps users deploy AI-generated code as fully functional applications.

The round attracted venture capital from Europe and the UK, signaling continued interest in infrastructure solutions around generative AI rather than superficial feature additions. With a user base nearing 100,000 just three months after launch, HyperDev is entering a competitive market where coding assistants are becoming commonplace.

Beyond Code Generation

While numerous platforms can now generate software from simple prompts, HyperDev distinguishes itself by addressing the challenges that follow code creation. Their “Guided Mode” feature transforms AI-generated drafts into production-ready websites, mobile apps, and software products—even for users without technical expertise.

This focus on deployment addresses a critical pain point in AI development: generating code is relatively easy, but shipping reliable software remains complex. Developers often spend more time debugging and integrating AI-generated components than producing them initially.

Experienced Team Leads Investment

The founding team’s credentials bolstered investor confidence. Co-founder and CTO Piotr Sobolewski previously worked at OpenAI on technologies powering ChatGPT, while co-founder Riaz Moola brings Google experience with AI systems like Gemini.

“HyperDev pairs advanced AI expertise with access to HyperionDev’s developer community,” noted lead investor Falk Albers of RIQ and Loom Ventures. “This allows them to build proprietary technology around software delivery rather than relying solely on third-party models.”

Early data shows the approach resonates, with Guided Mode nearly doubling user retention compared to standard AI coding platforms. HyperDev’s platform is already being used across 14 countries for diverse applications from fintech products to e-commerce sites.

A Shift in Venture Capital Focus

HyperDev’s funding reflects a broader trend where venture capital favors practical solutions over hype. Investors are increasingly backing companies that solve real workflow problems rather than solely capitalizing on the excitement around large language models.
